ATTUNED

Parable of the Ten Virgins–  Matthew 25:1-13
Teaching at the Temple– Luke 21:34-36 [MSG recommended] & Mark 13: 32-37

Jesus urged, reminded, and warned His disciples not be misled or sidetracked. He wants us focused and alert. This world, our own flesh, and satan are all at work to steal and distract. Thankfully, God is at work in greater and lasting ways. If we will ask Him for help and look to see how He is moving- then we can work with God to establish His ways on the earth while we wait for the final display of His victory.

What are we attuned to? It’s a freeing moment when we take hold of the truth that we can choose where and how we focus.

Perhaps today is a good day to practice the spiritual discipline of silence. Take a chunk of time and turn off all the sounds. Ask God to speak. Then, take a posture of listening -simply get quiet and wait.

WORSHIP THROUGH
MUSIC

PRAYER FOCUS

Help me hear with your ears and see with your eyes, Father. I want to live fully attuned to what You are doing. If there are things weighing me down or drowning your voice, please show me that I might give them to you.

PROGRESSIVE FAST

Same as Monday plus cut out all Snacks.

Children should only be doing BASELINE fast.

FAMILY FOCUS

At dinner tonight- play a little game. Each person will need something to write with & on.  Everyone closes their eyes and picks out the sounds in the room. Even if the TV isn’t on and music is off- there are things to hear. Have each person (secretly) make a list of everything they can hear. Go around and share one at a time. As each sound is pointed out -check your list. Points are only given for sounds that someone else doesn’t have as well. At the end of the rounds- are there any sounds that were heard only by one? Who is the best listener in your family?
