You are Most Welcome Here

Welcome to Oakhouse! Whether you have been a part of this community for a while or you are just visiting, you are most welcome here. The intention of this page is to give an overview of what Oakhouse is like and where we believe God is taking us. You have stepped into a community that feels a lot like family. We take our faith very seriously, but have fun along the way. We’re glad you’re here.

OUR VERSES

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
— Isaiah 61:3-4
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
— Ephesians 2:19-22

OUR MISSION

The assignment we’ve been given by Jesus.

Oakhouse exists to
love God
love others
be a witness
and make disciples.

OUR VISION

How we imagine and see this mission coming to life through Oakhouse over different periods of time.

  • Love each other in such a way that others see we are Jesus people.

    Have you heard statements like,
“I don’t have a problem with Jesus, I just don’t like the church”.
Or “I don’t see anyone acting like Jesus of the Bible.”

Us too. We are challenged by this.

This is an opportune time to lean in, to learn and get better and better at loving each other the way Jesus loves.

And, we will be blessed in community as we do it.

    You are not alone!

  • THE FIVE

We see a church intentionally practicing rhythms of discipleship and grace that first become habits, and then become a lifestyle on mission wherever we are.

We look out five years and see a church community living these rhythms out - and sending out disciples for whom these rhythms of life are just normal. It’s what we do. We see a community continuing to change, be sharpened, and live life on its toes because these rhythms challenge us and grow us. We see an exponential growth in the Kingdom because we are being discipled and making disciples.

    How it will happen

We will implement a new practice/rhythm each year. “The Five”.

    • 1 hour a day - We spend this daily time with Jesus through reading, prayer and worship. This creates the foundation we stand on.

    • 1 step a week - We take an active step of love toward someone who doesn’t know Jesus with the hope that we will eventually get to share our faith with them.

    • 1 Life Group - We dedicate ourselves to a Life Group, where we love others and receive their love as a biblical community.

    • 1 time a month - We serve in a local or global justice ministry

    • 1 person - We are intentionally discipling one person

We will have two dinners each year to mark our journey with The Five

    • An “I’m in” dinner for all who want to be a part of this journey for the next 9 months. Teams of three will be made at this dinner to walk with and support each other throughout the time.

    • An “I tried” dinner will be held at the end of the 9-month period to celebrate and recognize all that God did in growing his Kingdom this year.

  • 20-YEAR VISION

    JUSTICE CENTER

We see a campus that houses not only Oakhouse and all we do, but multiple non-profit organizations that care for the “least of these” in South Orange County. These organizations would continue to do what they already do, but in one location together – as one church. Our desire is for them to come rent-free.

We see people coming to collect food at the pantry, then receiving care for recovery and addiction. We see an overwhelmed Mother coming for help, and then receiving prayer any time, any day. We see a church full of Jesus’ heart welcoming each and every person with love and supernatural hospitality.

    How it will happen

Over the next 5-7 years we will

    • hire a project manager to begin a business plan

    • build out a leadership pipeline and 24-7 prayer ministry

Over the next 7-10 years we will

    • talk to the non-profit organizations to get their buy-in

    • dream the layout and structure of the campus

    • create a financial plan and begin to present to donors

Over the next 10-15 years we will

    • raise the money for the campus

    Within 20 years we will

    • build out the Justice Center and move in

We are preparing a place for mothers who come to us in crisis who are currently in elementary school. We are preparing place that will battle slavery for those yet not enslaved. We are preparing a place to welcome the homeless who currently have homes and jobs and are fighting for us overseas. We are preparing a place that will provide food to those yet not in our country. We are preparing a place that will charter and send out pastors and movement leaders who are currently in our nursery.

OUR VISION FOR YOU

You are an image-bearer of Christ, God’s very workmanship, created to worship Him and join Him in the work he has planned for you.  You are an important part of the Church, the Body of Christ.  By being here, you have and will continue to change and shape Oakhouse. Yes, you.

You are designed to flourish in your faith.  You are designed to not only believe, but follow Christ, whenever and wherever you are.  The same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead calls you to join in the Kingdom of God advancing here and now.  This is a life full of adventure, love, laughter, trials, and victory.  Being a Christian is the greatest joy, privilege, and honor conceivable and God has more for you in this life than you could ask or imagine.

How it will happen

  • We will give encouragement, training and resources for you to:

    • Have a vibrant relationship with Jesus through the spiritual disciplines

    • Find and use your spiritual gifts and talents

    • Supernaturally love others

    • Be a witness of the faith wherever you are

    • Walk alongside and help someone else in their walk with Christ

OUR HISTORY

The South County Project was a summer initiative by Rockharbor Church, which quickly grew and launched as its own campus in the Fall of 2009. Over the next 12 years, Rockharbor Mission Viejo found its identity as a place of authentic, creative, and Spirit-led worship and justice; a space for people to love God and others near and far.

In 2021, the Rockharbor Mission Viejo and Rockharbor Church Elder boards, after much prayer and conversation, decided that now was the time for Rockharbor Mission Viejo to move into the next form God was calling us to. Because of this, Oakhouse Church was launched on January 1st, 2022 with music, blessing and great BBQ.
