For sixteen years, Oakhouse has met in borrowed buildings and rooms: classrooms and youth rooms in schools and other churches, and most recently, The Mart – a converted department store. While all have served faithfully, every limitation has been felt. Oakhouse’s new location (formerly Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist in RSM) is a church by design, complete with a worship center, dedicated kids and youth spaces, and a beautiful outdoor gathering area.
The next chapter of Oakhouse's story is about establishing a home base for our mission.
A HOME THAT GROUNDS US…
A HOME FOR COMMUNITY AND BELONGING a place where people know they can find Oakhouse — a space of belonging for the curious, the disenfranchised, and the faithful, seven days a week.
A HOME FOR WORSHIP AND DISCIPLESHIP spaces for adults, youth, and kids to learn about God’s love.
A HOME FOR RADICAL HOSPITALITY spaces that welcome newcomers and communicate Jesus’ care through every aesthetic and programming decision.
… AND A BASE THAT SENDS US.
A BASE FOR JUSTICE AND COMPASSION a launchpad where we will house ongoing ministries like AA and the city food pantry while creating space for new initiatives and nonprofit partnerships.
A BASE FOR FORMATION AND MISSION this will be the place where spiritual formation and missional action meet.
4 Things This Will Mean For Our Community
Oakhouse has always been about formation, not construction; about people becoming who they’re made to be. This move will create a space that embodies our heart for worship, hospitality, and justice.
What It Will Take To Make This Happen
This next chapter is not a project. It’s an invitation from God to take what has already been planted and give it space to grow.
