  • Learn about Baptism

When we meet Jesus and offer Him our lives, the first act of obedience is baptism. It is an outward expression of an inward decision and is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate that decision with other Jesus followers. Are you ready for that step in your faith journey? Let us know!

  • Did you know that there are over 2,200 children in the child welfare system in California? When the need arises and a child is provided with a short-term stay or longer-term care, a loving home can be an incredibly important stop on their journey — one that leads them to a hopeful, healthy future.

When people step in to provide this loving home through foster care, we want it to be a communal exercise. Even if you are not in a position to care for a child in your home, you can still be a part of supporting those families that are. We can do it together.

  • Child dedications are based on the story of Hannah and Samuel in 1 Samuel 1 &2. When she was barren and God miraculously blessed her with a child, Hannah offered Samuel back to the Lord out of abundance of faith and thanks. Child dedications are a time of recognizing our stewardship as parents of our children and remembering that they are a gift from the Lord and ultimately belong to him. This gives parents the opportunity to publicly vow before the Lord to steward them well, both committing to not only caring for their physical needs but also their spiritual needs by intentionally raising them to have a relationship with God.

  • Faith with action is ALIVE! We are a church that doesn't just take up space in our city, we are showing the love of Jesus in and through us by our "works of faith." We have multiple events throughout the year that we volunteer and attend. This is an ongoing ministry as we see new needs come up. Check our Community Engagement calendar to see what we’re currently working on.

  • We see a church intentionally practicing rhythms of discipleship and grace that first become habits, and then become a lifestyle on mission wherever we are.

We look out five years and see a church community living these rhythms out - and sending out disciples for whom these rhythms of life are just normal. It’s what we do. We see a community continuing to change, be sharpened, and live life on its toes because these rhythms challenge us and grow us. We see exponential growth in the Kingdom because we are being discipled and making disciples.

You can learn more about this vision and each of the 1-year-visions that are a part of The Five at oakhouse.org/thefive.

  • Our next interest meeting is scheduled for after service on January 29th. Sign up here.

We have been partnering with an organization called Food For the Hungry since 2015 in six different villages in Guatemala. You can learn more about FH here.

Through FH, we are coming alongside the people in these villages to promote holistic learning and growth. It’s holistic for a number of reasons. First, EVERYONE involved is healing, learning and growing – including each one of us. We have much to learn from the people in Guatemala. We have, and will continue to in the future. Secondly, the plan is that the men, women and children in these villages continue to develop skills and leadership that are sustainable for the community going forward. So much so, that one day in the future, they won’t need us in the same way! The estimate is that this will be 10-15 years from the start of the partnership. We look forward to celebrating with our friends on that day.

You can learn about upcoming trips and other opportunities at oakhouse.org/justice.

  • Hour a Day is the first step of our 5 year vision. The challenge is for everyone to spend an hour a day with Jesus. There isn’t anything magical about sixty minutes -it’s simply a tool. If you’ve never set aside time to consistently invest in your relationship with the Lord, then the call is that you start with any amount.

  • Oakhouse Kids meet on Sundays at 10am during our general service.

We believe in raising our kids to not only know and love God but also know what being filled with His Spirit looks like. It has long been our anthem that “there is no junior Holy Spirit.” If we believe the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in our kids we get to raise our expectations of what they can carry as members of the body of Christ.

Whether your child has never heard of Jesus, or “Jesus” was their first word, we at Oakhouse are excited to come alongside you as you help them foster a relationship with their Heavenly Father. We want parents to see what we see inside your kids: the oak inside the acorn; ready for planting, watering, growth and to become a display for his glory (Isaiah 61:3).

Some have no family to look in on them. That is why this ministry is vital to this neglected population. While yes you are delivering food you are doing much more than that...your heart is partnering with what breaks God's heart. If you want to get involved with this family-friendly ministry

  • What is One Step a Week?

We see a church embracing the call of ambassador with love, passion, and INTENTIONALITY. Our call to represent Jesus’ love to a watching world isn’t always top of mind. Our call to be witnesses and share our hope with those around us can often feel like an “add-on” or even optional in our daily lives.

Because of these realities, we are taking steps this year to actively pursue opportunities to love and be witnesses to those who don’t have a relationship with Jesus. We see a church regularly seeking God's heart for others with questions like “who needs your love this week?” and “how do you want me to show them your love?”

Oakhouse will be bold, authentic, and kind ambassadors of this hope we have been given in Jesus.

You can find resources for your One Step challenge, join an encouragement group, find ideas to try and share your story at oakhouse.org/one-step.

  • In the Safe Families program through Olive Crest, volunteers open their homes to children whose parents are experiencing a short-term emergency, such as hospitalization, or a longer-term crisis, such as drug abuse. Designed to extend and strengthen the community safety net for at-risk families, Safe Families for Children is a positive alternative to the state child welfare system, allowing parents to work out their problems without having to worry about losing custody of their children.

The program’s goal is to reunite children with their biological parent(s) in a home that is more stable and healthy, in part because of the contribution of the Safe Families for Children intervention.

You can learn more through Olive Crest’s website or by contacting Jenn Halliburton at jennifer-halliburton@olivecrest.org.
